About the Role
Plummers Industries is currently on the lookout for an experienced and highly motivated Sheetmetal (Light Fab) Foreman to join our Sheetmetal team based in Belmont. This role will be reporting to the Sheetmetal Manager and will have overall oversight of workshop operations, and to lead an experienced team of approximately fifty (50) workers.
Our Company is constantly innovating, growing and seeking out new business opportunities. New factory construction is currently underway at Plummers Industries second factory location in Maddington, Western Australia doubling our production capacity.
We run an extensive Sheetmetal Manufacturing operation that supplies the in-house production of Switchroom & Electrical gear to the mining industry Australia wide, as well as custom built structures to businesses across Western Australia.
This role is key to driving the success of our Sheetmetal team.
About your Responsibilities:
- Lead by example, yes we are a modern business, but we still hold on to good old fashion values of trust, hard work and loyalty.
- Supervision of workshop personnel on the job daily. Also ensuring a safe work environment for People and Plant at all times. Addressing any grievances that may arise no matter how small.
- Work Scheduling. Plan and assign work tasks accordingly, assess work progress and performance.
- Procurement. Assisting the Sheetmetal Manager with the tender process. Placing orders for materials, and organising delivery of items to clients and also our Brisbane factory.
- Communication. We have a workforce from diverse cultures and backgrounds including a large number of overseas workers. You must be able to give clear instructions and direction to the team as well as understand feedback from the floor.
About our Requirements (Skills, Knowledge, Experience)
- Trade qualified in Sheetmetal;
- At least 10 years hands on experience with the tools;
- Worked with Stainless steel, aluminium, and general steel fabrication;
- Computer skills – MS Suite, Solidworks or similar program (not necessary but is helpful);
- Good working knowledge of: Press brakes, Turret punches, Powder coat;
- Understands the manufacturing process and maintenance of plant & equipment
